My Father's House · Not yet believe

For those who do not yet believe

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” — John 14:6

Not yet believe

If you do not (yet) believe God is real — or you are angry, tired of religion, or simply unsure — you are welcome here. This room does not argue you into silence. It opens the book, names real places, and offers careful facts people weigh. Scripture teaches; you decide what to do with it.

The barrier — knowing Jesus, then the Father

Some say God is not real because they have not yet known Jesus Christ. In His words, knowing Him is how one comes to the Father — and life eternal is to know the only true God and Jesus Christ whom He sent.

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

John 14:1–7Jesus Christ

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6Jesus Christ

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

John 17:3Jesus Christ

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

John 1:18John

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

John 14:9–11Jesus Christ

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

Matthew 11:27Jesus Christ

The Light is Jesus Christ

In this house, “the Light” means Jesus Christ — “In him was life; and the life was the light of men” (John 1:4), “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12), “I am the law, and the light” (3 Nephi 15:9). When other texts speak of light or wisdom, weigh them by that measure; do not trade Christ for a slogan.

The book does not pretend darkness is imaginary. It says the Lord forms light and creates darkness — and that in Christ was life, the light of men, shining where darkness does not comprehend it.

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12Jesus Christ

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:4–5John

Behold, I am the law, and the light. Look unto me, and endure to the end, and ye shall live; for unto him that endureth to the end will I give eternal life.

3 Nephi 15:9Jesus Christ

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1 John 1:5John

I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.

Isaiah 45:7The Lord (Isaiah)

And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Genesis 1:3–5Moses

Lessons in the book guide the path

When answers feel thin, the invitation is not “trust a slogan” — it is search the scriptures. They testify of Him; they lamp the feet; they furnish for good works. Use the search above anytime — press / — instead of scrolling the whole room.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105Psalmist

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Timothy 3:16–17Paul

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

John 5:39Jesus Christ

Jesus is the life

He said He is the way, the truth, and the life — the resurrection and the life. In Him was life; that life was the light of men.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:6Jesus Christ

Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

John 11:25–26Jesus Christ

In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

John 1:4–5John

Related witness & background texts

These writings are not official scripture for every tradition, and they are not the doctrinal source of truth in My Father’s House. Old Testament, New Testament, and the Book of Mormon (as used here) teach doctrine. Use your mind: research, compare, and connect dots. Hold what points to Jesus Christ; set aside what leads away from Him.

Gospel of Thomas

A sayings collection attributed to Thomas. Some lines echo Jesus’ call to seek and find. Read as background witness — then return to the canonical Gospels where Christ is named clearly as the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Use your mind. Not part of the New Testament canon for most churches. Compare carefully with Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

Book of Enoch (1 Enoch)

Ancient Jewish apocalyptic literature about heavenly visions, judgment, and the “Son of Man.” Early Christians knew these themes; the New Testament still centers salvation in Jesus Christ. Use as historical/background witness, not as replacement gospel.

Use your mind. Not in the Protestant canon (kept in some traditions’ wider collections). Weigh visions against the words of Jesus and the apostles.

Book of Thoth (wisdom / light traditions)

Various Hermetic and Egyptian-associated writings speak of light, wisdom, and mind. In this house we do not endorse occult practice. Where “light” or “wisdom” appear, we identify the true Light as Jesus Christ — and invite you back to His words, not to secret systems.

Use your mind. Not Christian scripture. Do not substitute mystical technique for repentance, faith in Christ, and the Father’s will. Connect dots carefully; Christ remains the measure.

Gospel of Mary (Mary Magdalene)

A later dialogue gospel associated with Mary Magdalene — a disciple of Jesus, not Mary the mother of Jesus. Some readers find courage to keep seeking Christ. Still: the four Gospels and apostolic witness remain primary for who Jesus is.

Use your mind. Important clarification: this is Mary Magdalene, not Mary the mother of Jesus. Not New Testament canon. Research dates and manuscript history for yourself.

A Valentinian / gnostic-leaning collection with sayings about mystery and union. Occasional lines may stir curiosity about Christ; many do not match apostolic doctrine. Use as comparative background only.

Didache (Teaching of the Twelve Apostles)

An early Christian handbook on the Two Ways, baptism, prayer, and community life. Often valued as a window into the first generations after the apostles — still subordinate to the New Testament itself.

Evidence people weigh — consciousness, spirit, and the edge of death

Keep this proportionate. No single study “proves God.” Researchers and clinicians have documented experiences people report near death, and philosophers argue about mind and matter. Weigh carefully; then return to the book — and to Christ the Light.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

2 Corinthians 5:8Paul

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Ecclesiastes 12:7The Preacher

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis 2:7Moses

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
